2006 Candlelighting >
2006 attendance at Candlelighting was the best yet.
Members of the Class of 1963 and other former Glee Club
members practice "Light of the World" just minutes before the
Candlelighting ceremony. These volunteers led those of us less
musically gifted during the actual ceremony. We needed the help! In
previous year's, attendees had proven to be a bit rusty singing the
song that had become an OLP candlelighting tradition. If you would
like to be part of this group for the 2008 ceremoney, just show up in
the auditorium a half hour early to rehearse with them.

Our traditional tableau was
added to the Candlelighting
Ceremony in 2006. Thanks go
to Nancy Burke (Class of
1963) who procured some
costumes for our holy family
last year. Thanks also to
Emily Mitchell the daughter of
Joni Dreelan Mitchell (Class of
1970) and Jim Allen, Joni's
brother-in-law. Here Emily and
Jim wait backstage for the
curtain to be pulled to reveal
the tableau. The $5 donations
made by attendees last year
allowed us to make our own
costumes for the 2007 and
future ceremonies.

OLP's first graduating class of 1955 after 2006 Candlelighting.
They were honored at the 2005 ceremony-- their 50th anniversary.
The Class of 1956 was honored in 2006 and the class of 1957 were
the 2007 honorees. The 50th anniversary class is given the
traditional blue and gold ribbons to wear during Candlelighting.
